Question: How come I had the probe fully charged the night before but the next day it won't power up? Is the battery defective?
Answer: ECPin uses supercapacitor as power source. Unlike typical batteries, a ECPin’s supercapacitor standby power will be discharged in about 6 hours. Therefore it is recommended to charge ECPin before use.Question: What is good about using supercapacitors over batteries?
Answer: For one, supercapacitors can be charged and discharged almost indefinitely, but batteries have a limited life. Batteries lose their capacity gradually over their lifetime. Supercapacitors don’t.Question: Is it safe to use ECPin in a 450F/230C oven?
Answer: Yes! As long as the metal casing (electronics inside) of ECPin is inserted into meat of your choice then it is safe to withstand up to 212F/100C. The exposed top part of ECPin is made of FDA and LFGB approved ceramic material. It can withstand at least 600F/315C.Question: Would any flare ups damage the probe?
Answer: No. Food grade stainless steel casing and ceramic top can handle it with ease.Question:What do you mean by no pairing needed? Is ECPin not a Bluetooth device?
Answer: ECPin is a Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) device that allows your phone (after turn on Bluetooth) to scan for it and pair automatically.Question:So a mobile device can monitor up to 8 probes. Can a probe support multiple mobile devices?
Answer: Yes! ECPin can be connected to multiple mobile devices at once! You can literally make any family members/friends who have a ECTherm app to monitor the probe.
